Everett G. Staples, 91
Everett G. Staples, 91, formerly of Rockford passed away on July 5, 2008, in Glenbrook Hospital, Northbrook. Born Sept. 7, 1916, on a farm in rural Carroll County, Iowa, the son of Herbert B. and Stella (Salisbury) Staples. He married Bernice A. Ward in Austin on Aug. 30, 1940. He owned and operated Better Homes Realty for many years. Everett was an avid gardener.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice, Northbrook; children, David (Judy) Staples, Rockford, Daniel (Lynette) Staples, Freeland, Mich., Philip (Nancy Stironek) Staples, Lake Zurich, Judith Kirkpatrick, Brookfield, Mo., Mary (Kit) Clark, Elgin; grandchildren, Michelle Borgiallia, Rachel Staples, Barbara (Brian) Bennett, Danelle (Mark) Dickerson, Lynelle (James) Buchanan, Sandra (Michael) Herriage, Tyler Staples, John Carter (Windy) Kirkpatrick, Tarl (Beth) Kirkpatrick, Logan Kirkpatrick and Caitlyn Brendemuehl; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded by his parents, four brothers, five sisters and an infant daughter.
A service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 8, in First Evangelical Covenant Church, with the Rev. Dr. David Larsen officiating. Visitation was held on Monday, July 7, in Delehanty Funeral Home Ltd., In lieu of flowers, memorial to be established. Visit delehantyfh.com.
