Ethel E. Cafourek, 94
Ethel Elvina Cafourek, 94, of Austin, died at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester on July 9, 2008.
She was born Nov. 4, 1913 to Julius and Clara (Hellickson) Heimsness in Beaver Township, Fillmore County, Minn. After growing up on a farm near Ostrander and later Spring Valley and attending schools in Spring Valley and Austin, she served as a live-in nanny. She married Robert L. Cafourek on April 24, 1932 in Austin where she made her home and raised six children. Ethel and Robert were later divorced. Ethel attained her GED and college credits. She married Elmer Cafourek, and later he died. A Younkers employee, Ethel belonged to St. Olaf Lutheran Church and Women of the Moose. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, embroidering and baking, but the love of her life was time spent with her family. She loved displaying the pictures she took of her family members.
Survivors include two sons, Ronald (Joan) Cafourek, Osage, Iowa; Darrell (Rachelle) Cafourek, Albert Lea; four daughters, Elvina (David) Solomonson, Austin, Betty (Norlan) Stalhiem, Albert Lea; Karen (Robert) Carlson, Rochester, Connie (Mitch) Page, Englewood, Colo.; 21 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; step-daughter, Darlene Johnson, Albert Lea; brother, Ray (Deloris) Heimsness, Austin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Robert and Elmer; two brothers; four sisters and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin with Pastor Ron Barnett officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at church. Interment is at Grandview Cemetery, Austin. Worlein Funeral Home in Austin is in charge of arrangements.
