Clean Water Amendment subject of next Ike’s meeting

Dan Zielske of “Vote Yes Minnesota” will be discussing the Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment at the Monday, July 7 meeting of Austin Izaak Walton League Chapter No. 10.

“Vote Yes Minnesota,” the coalition supporting the Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment, is presenting to the Austin chapter information about the amendment whhich will provide funding for Minnesota’s natural resources.

Eleven chapters of the Izaak Walton League have endorsed the campaign.

As one of the oldest environmental organizations in America, Izaak Walton recognizes the special place that Minnesota’s natural resources play in the quality of life, according to Dave Cole, chapter media outreach coorinator.

“The Ikes were formed to protect soil, air, woods, waters and wildlife,” he said.

“The Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment reflects the core values of our mission statement, which is why 11 local chapters have endorsed the campaign” said Larry Dolphin, president of the Austin chapter. “I know that we need to protect all of our natural resources for future generations to enjoy, and we can do that by voting tes this November.”

Zielske serves on the Mankato Pow-wow Association committee and Twin Rivers Center for the Arts. He is the president of the board of trustees for the Blue Earth County Historical Society and serves on the board of trustees for Minnesota Citizens for the Arts.

Topics of conversation will include the fact that four of 10 tested bodies of water are polluted and that Minnesota is set to lose one million acres of open space over the next 25 years.

The public is welcomed and encouraged to attend. Refreshments will be served at the conclusion of the presentation.

Austin Chapter 10 of the Izaak Walton League is a non-profit conservation organization whose mission is to conserve, maintain, protect, and restore all soil, waters, wildlife, and other natural resources.
