Arlin W. Schultz, 80
Arlin Weldon Schultz, 80, of Austin died at Albert Lea Medical Center on July 15, 2008.
He was born Jan. 29, 1928 to Emil and Mabel (Skifton) Schultz in LaCrosse, Wis. The family moved to Minnesota when Arlin was a young boy. He graduated from Austin High School in 1946. He married Marcine Wollenberg on Nov. 24, 1950 at Grace Lutheran Church. Drafted into the Army in 1952, stationed in Louisville, Ky., he served as a cook during the Korean Conflict. After his discharge, Arlin worked at the post office for 33 years. A member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, American Legion and the Eagles, he organized the Austin Eagles Cancer Telethon for several years, was past president and treasurer of the Eagles and competed on the Eagle’s Ritual Team. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, bowling, crossword puzzles, drawing, sports and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife Marcine of 57 years; son, Verdell Schultz, Austin; three daughters, Lori (Thomas) Hintz, Rochester, Minn., Barbara Schultz, Rochester, Karie Schultz, Austin; two grandchildren, Ben and Megan; brother, Vern Schultz, Rapid City, S.D.; sister, Janice (Rocky) Luns, Iowa; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mabel and Emil Schultz.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, July 18, 2008 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin with the Reverend Ron Barnett officiating. Visitation is from 4 – 6 p.m., Thursday at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin and at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment is at Grandview Cemetery, Austin.
