News of Austin native and soon-to-be teacher Beau Zabel’s tragic death during a robbery in Philadelphia Sunday rippled back to his hometown this week, leaving people shaking their heads at how a young and promising life could be taken in such a violent manner.

Zabel, 23, was an Austin High School graduate, active in his school and community and pursing a career in education. According to reports from teachers and colleagues, Zabel touched many lives in both Philadelphia and of course in Austin.
