Paul Schulz

Paul F. Schulz, 70, of Elkhart, Ind. passed away on May 30, 2008 at Elkhart General Hospital.

Paul was born on Sept. 6, 1937 in Austin to Ferdinand and Rose (Paul) Schulz. He Graduated from Austin High School in 1955 and Lutheran College, Decorah, Iowa, in 1959. He had a Masters Degree from Andrews University. He married Judith A. Hall on June 10, 1960, in Austin. Paul was a deacon and Sunday School teacher at church; member of the Missionary Committee at church; and member of the Elco Commission.

From 1959-1965 he was the band director of Grand Meadow High School, Grand Meadow, Minn. From 1965-1972 he was a band director at Elkhart Community Schools and from 1972- 2000 he became supervisor of music there; he then co-founded New Horizon Band in 2000. He also was the conductor of the Elkhart Municipal Band.

He is survived by his wife, Judith Schulz, Elkhart; daughters, Dawn (Keith) Treadway, Kokomo, Ind., Tamara (Jon) Walter, Fort Wayne, Ind., Kim Champion, Elkhart; son, Dwight (Joan) Schulz, Elkhart; 8 Grandchildren; and one sister, Judith (Dean) Tapp, Rochester.

Visitation will be held on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m at First Baptist Church in Bristol, Ind. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church with the Rev. John Blodgett of First Baptist Church and Rev. Keith Treadway, Son-in-law officiating. Interment will be at Prairie Street Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted with Waterman Westbrook Clouse Funeral Home.
