Dorothy I. Roseth, 87, formerly of Austin, died on May 24, 2008 at Castle Ridge Health Care Center in Eden Prairie, Minn.

She was born May 24, 1921 in Austin to Earl and Rae (Irvine) Korfhage. She grew up with one brother and one sister: Eugene and Margaret. Her pets included dogs and canaries. A funny story about her growing up was climbing the outside wall of a three-story brick high school. She was quite the tomboy. Dorothy enjoyed chorus, soccer, “kitten ball” and basketball. She was very proud of being in the National Honor Society.

Dorothy’s first job was at the age of 49 — she set up food trays at St. Olaf Hospital. Her career started at age 50, working for a florist, doing floral design. Dorothy married Oscar Roseth on Dec. 24, 1939. Together they had two children: Betty and David. Their first home was in Austin. Oscar was a Seebee in the Pacific during World War II. She was a Girl Scout leader, was in bowling leagues, and loved camping and fishing. She canoed the Boundary Waters at age 67. Dorothy and her family built two cabins on Mille Lacs Lake. She loved traveling around the United States, England, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Italy. Dorothy lived on Mille Lacs Lake after she retired, and wintered in Brownsville, Texas for 10 years.
