Craig John Whitson, 61, of Austin died on May 10, 2008 at the Austin Medical Center.

He was born on Sept. 20, 1946 in Webster City, Iowa, to Robert and Maye Whitson. A member of the Moose Lodge, Craig also served as the groundskeeper at Austin Country Club. He spent the past 25 years with his significant other, Jacqueline Kottner.

He is survived by his children, Jonna (Richard) Lenamond, Forney, Texas, Joal (Robert) Crawford, Fruitvale, Texas; six grandchildren, Elisa, Dylan, Alissa, Gus, Danielle and Bailey; brothers, Bruce (Barb) Whiston, West Des Moines, Iowa, Mark (Pam) Whitson, Stratford, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Whitson.

Funeral services will be held on May 13 at 10 a.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with Pastor Koppel officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service at the church. His body was donated to the Mayo Clinic.
