Fireworks to light up skies

The rockets red glare, bombs bursting in air will give proof through tonight, Independence Day is here.

A fireworks display begins 9:45 p.m. over the Cedar River in Horace Austin Park. The Mill Pond Pathway will be circled by Independence Day celebrants, during Austin's Heart of America Festival.

Another fireworks display takes place Saturday night after the Concert in the Park activities at Austin Community Bandshell Park.

Tonight, fireworks will explode over Blooming Prairie at Victory Field, beginning 10 p.m.

Elsewhere, a giant fireworks display will light up the nighttime skies over the Grand Meadow Super Larks football field, beginning dusk.

Lyle's fireworks display took place last Sunday night at the conclusion of their Old Fashioned 4th of July celebration.

Residents of LeRoy have none in their community since the city's 125th anniversary. They will travel to Grand Meadow or Riceville, Iowa to see a display.

No other communities in the county have a fireworks display.
