Keep the county fair free to all

Let's hope it doesn't get to this. But in times of financial uncertainty, we wouldn't be surprised.
There's talk that some county fairs across the state might see higher admission and other related fees as state funding will likely be trimmed.
One of the area's annual local highlights is the Mower County Fair, which doesn't charge general admission.
The fair is a time for many local residents to come together to renew old ties or establish new ones. We encourage state leaders to continue relevant funding to counties so it doesn't get to the point where people have to pay to get into their own county fair.
