Residents seek permits

On the Tuesday's agenda for the Mower County Planning Commission are wind energy and new home and mobile home requests.

John Sheedy is seeking a conditional use permit to construct a home in a wooded area in Section 32, Lansing Township.

Garwin McNeilus, the petitioner, wants a similar permit to construct wind towers in Section 14, Adams Township.

McNeilus is side-stepping the business plan of other wind energy entrepreneurs in Mower County, who have constructed anemometers to study the availability of wind energy for generating electricity.

He wants to construct three wind towers on property owned by Lynn Sathre in Section 14, of Adams Township, and one wind tower on property owned by John Sathre also in Section 14 in Adams Township.

Lee Hansen and Hansen Hauling want a permit to operate a gravel pit on property owned by George Dress in Section 24 in Austin Township.

Raymond and Janet Quandt are seeking a permit to construct a home in a wooded area in Section 11, Pleasant Valley Township.

Lastly, Carol Kline is seeking a permit to allow a mobile home to be moved onto property in Section 19, Lyle Township.

The county planning commission meets 7 p.m. in the county commissioners' meeting room in the lower level of the government center in downtown Austin. Participants are asked to use the west main entrance near the Austin-Mower County Law Enforcement Center.

All recommendations of the county planning commission will be considered at the Mower County Board of Commissioners' meeting, beginning 1:15 p.m. May 6.
