Packer girls#039; basketball players honored with All-State awards

Austin High School seniors Steph Eslinger and Amy Kelly each were honored as members of respective All-State teams.
Eslinger, a senior center for the Packers, was recently named to the Minnesota Girls Basketball Coaches Association honorable mention All-State squad. Eslinger averaged 9.5 points and 5.4 rebounds this season.
Kelly, a senior guard, was an Academic All-State selection. She averaged 11.8 points per game.
Both Eslinger and Kelly, along with junior All-State honorable mention pick Lisa Bue, were All-Big Nine Conference choices.
Packer Backer Booster Club offering $500 scholarships
The Austin Packer Backer Booster Club is offering several $500 scholarships to graduating high school student-athletes.
Eligibility requirement is based on three-year participation in an Austin High School sport with a minimum 2.5 grade point average and attending a two- or four-year college, trade or vocational school in the fall of 2003.
Applications may be obtained at the AHS counselor's office or through activities director Naomi Hatfield. Deadline for applications is April 25.
Summer volleyball leagues forming in Owatonna
Summer sand volleyball leagues are now forming in Owatonna. Deadline for registration is April 11.
Men's, women's and co-rec leagues will play 12-week seasons plus playoffs. Schedules will become available on April 24.
