Chatfield nips S/GM girls golfers in conference play

The Southland/Grand Meadow girls' golf team hosted a triangular against Chatfield and Kingsland on Monday at Cedar River Country Club and came up one stroke short of winning the tournament.

The Chatfield Gophers added a win to their season record by scoring a 258, while S/GM came in second with a score of 259. Kingsland had three girls compete and entered as a incomplete team.

Chatfield's Robyn Dudley shot a match-best 56 and took home medalist honors.

Megan Underdahl led S/GM with a 59, Cathy Schneider chipped a 61, and Rachel Simon swung a 68. Charlotte Retterath and Heather Reiten both shot a 71 for the fourth spot.

"This is a very disappointing loss for us, but the girls improved on their game since Friday," said S/GM coach Wayne Robertson.

Southland/Grand Meadow (2-1) will travel to Caledonia/Spring Grove on Tuesday to face the defending sub-section champions.
