Orum repeats as SEC first-teamer

The Southeast Conference boys have announced the 2002-2003 basketball honor squad. First team selections include 11 seniors, one junior and one sophomore.

LeRoy-Ostrander senior Chad Orum made the first team for the fourth consecutive year, accumulating 1,739 points and 1,049 rebounds. Orum will be playing next year at Southwest State in Marshall.

Teammate Ben Adams was named to the All-SEC first team for the third consecutive year. Both Orum and Adams were starters for head coach Russ Foster for the past four years. Adams led the Cardinals this season in steals and assists.

Fellow senior Dustin Thorson upgraded himself from the honorable mention squad with his first All-Conference first team selection. Thorson was L-O's second-leading scorer behind Orum this season.

LeRoy-Ostrander was the conference champion for the second consecutive year, finishing with a flawless league record of 14-0. The Cardinals ended the season 23-3 with a loss in the sub-section finals to Rushford-Peterson. The team also received the league's Sportsmanship Award.

L-O sophomore Andrew Knight emerged as the team's second-leading rebounder and earned honorable mention status.

Grand Meadow placed senior point guard Kyle Breitbarth on the All-Conference squad as well. The Superlarks finished the year 7-16 overall and 3-11 in the SEC. Junior Anthony Stejskal was an honorable mention pick.

Lyle/Pacelli was without an All-Conference first teamer, honoring senior guard Nels Nelson as an honorable mention pick. L/P picked up just one win this season, going 1-22 and 1-13 in the SEC.

Houston's all-time leading scorer Brian Edmiston was named to the All-SEC team for the third year. Nathan Pastwa of Mabel-Canton was a second-year selection.

Glenville-Emmons' Michael Yocom is the lone junior on the all-league squad, and Spring Grove's Sam Morken was the only sophomore selected.
