Kenneth Clair Meyer, 77

Kenneth Clair Meyer, 77, of rural Lyle, Minn., died Thursday morning, March 13, 2003, at the Austin Medical Center. He was born on April 7, 1925, on the family farm near Lyle, Minn., the son of Clarence and Clara (Larson) Meyer. He attended school in Lyle, graduating from Lyle High School in 1943. On September 5, 1948, he married Clara B. Nelson in Langdon, N.D. They lived and farmed on the Meyer family century farm near Lyle, until his retirement. He was a baptized and confirmed member of Six Mile Grove Lutheran Church, a member of the Lyle Lions Club, Sons of Norway and Farmers Union. Kenny loved to fish, hunt, watch his children and grandchildren play sports and visit with friends and family.

Survivors include his wife, Clara Meyer of rural Lyle; four children, Lonna (Ron) Ellis of Cottage Grove, Gary (Betty) Meyer of rural Lyle, Jeff (Robin) Meyer of Lyle and Jill (Jamie) Patterson of St. Ansgar, Iowa; nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one brother, Clayton (Rosann) Meyer of Austin and many other relatives and friends. His parents and a nephew, David Meyer, preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, March 17, 2003, at the Six Mile Grove Lutheran Church, rural Lyle, with Rev. Lydia Mittag, officiating. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Worlein Funeral Home in Austin on Sunday, March 16th from 1 to 4 p.m. and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

Honorary casketbearers will be Brandi Meyer and Haley Meyer and casketbearers will be Chans Meyer, Brock Meyer, Rod Ellis, Chad Ellis, Jon Olson and Jay Olson.

Hulda L. Jochumsen, 92

Memorial services for Hulda L. Jochumsen of Albert Lea, Minn., will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 17, 2003, at the Bonnerup Funeral Service Chapel in Albert Lea. The Reverend John Henriksen will officiate. Friends may gather with the family one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Mrs. Jochumsen died Thursday morning at the Good Samaritan Center. She was 92 years of age.

Hulda was born February 20, 1911, in Illinois, the daughter of Walter and Emma Wysong. She was united in marriage on June 10, 1936, to Richard Jochumsen at the Lutheran Parsonage in Hartland, Minn.

After her marriage, they lived in Hartland and Manchester until moving north of Hayward, where they farmed for 14 years. In 1956 they moved to Albert Lea where she worked for the F.W. Woolworth Co., and then at the Cafe Don'l for over 20 years as a cook.

Hulda was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church and the Albert Lea Moose Lodge. She enjoyed cooking, playing cards and was an avid sports fan, especially the Minnesota Twins.

She is survived by her son Danny and his wife Bonnie Jochumsen of Houston, Texas; grandchildren Paul Sullivan and his wife Gina, Jolene Sullivan, David Sullivan, Deanna Palm and her husband Steve, and Mark and wife, Kelly Jochumsen; great grandchildren Brad, Taylor and Jordan Sullivan, Alex and Justin Palm. Also surviving is one sister May Hallum of Austin, Minn., and son-in-law John Sullivan of Albert Lea, Minn.

Hulda was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard, daughter Joann Sullivan, sisters Ethel Wysong and Neva Lerum, and one brother Howard Wysong.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed by her loving family and many friends.
