Grand Meadow used a half-court trap in the fourth quarter to foil Lyle/Pacelli's upset bid and pick up a 56-49 Southeast Conference victory Tuesday night in the dome.
The Superlarks earned just their third win in league play, driven by a balanced offensive attack and a late defensive stand.
"Lyle/Pacelli had lots of turnovers in the fourth quarter," said GM coach Bruce Klaehn.
Grand Meadow led by five at the half, 28-23, but the lead dwindled to 42-39 entering the final frame. The Superlarks' defense made the difference in the end, helping the team to 6-14 overall and 3-10 in SEC play.
Lyle/Pacelli, despite a game-high 18 points from Nick Ehret, dropped to 1-20 and 1-12. The team finishes the regular season at home against Houston Friday night at Pacelli High School.
Grand Meadow has two regular-season contests left. The Larks travel to Alden-Conger Thursday night.
