Decision on cuts won#039;t get easier

Adjustments made by Gov. Tim Pawlenty's administration to help balance the budget for the 2003 fiscal year are, on paper, sound decisions that are further proof on the tough moves that will be made in the coming months.

State money to help businesses restock their store inventories after the Roseau flood will help those shopkeepers get back on their feet. The flip side is that other programs, like funds to help communities deal with terrorism prevention and response, are getting hit.

From our vantage, Pawlenty's administration is making the right move in this area, by prioritizing decisions that simply aren't easy ones to make.
