Hunter C. Bononi, 4

Funeral services for Hunter Charles Bononi of Altadena, Calif. were held Jan. 20, 2003. He died Jan. 16, 2003, after being hit by a car in front of his home.

Hunter Charles Bononi was born on Sept. 1, 1998, in Altadena, Calif.

Surviving are his parents, Michael and Lisa (Hansen) Bononi of Altadena, Calif. and sister, Sierra; grandparents, Lawrence and Betty Hansen of Austin, Minn., Dolly and Earling Engstrom of Brookings, S.D., and Chuck and Mary Bononi of Redding Calif.; aunts and uncles, Laurie (Hansen) Vanhorssen of Salt Lake City, Utah, Lee Hansen of Austin, Linda (Hansen) Cook of Sioux City, Iowa, Linton Hansen of Austin, Lana (Hansen) Sheffield of Dallas, Texas, and cousins.

Glenn L. Schmeling, 89

Glenn Lawrence Schmeling, 89, died Monday, Jan. 27, 2003, at Field Crest Care Center, Hayfield.

He was born Nov. 18, 1913, to William and Selma (Garbisch) Schmeling in Waltham Township.

On June 20, 1935, he married Esther Kording in Trinity Lutheran Church parsonage in Hayfield.

Glenn was a farmer, builder, mechanic, and musician. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hayfield.

Survivors include sons, Evan (Linda) Schmeling, Hayfield; Alan (Sue) Schmeling, Hayfield; daughters, Diane Schmeling, Owatonna; Marion Schmeling, Richfield; Lorna Schmeling, Coon Rapids; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a daughter, a stillborn son, one sister and three brothers.

Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003, at the funeral home and Friday at the church for one hour before the service.

Service: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Stephan Sandness officiating.

Interment: Fairview Cemetery, Hayfield.

Edna A. Johnson, 92

Edna A. Johnson, 92, of Austin, died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2003, at St. Marks Lutheran Home.

She was born Dec. 27, 1910, to Frank and Frances (Macker) Hinzman in Guttenberg, Iowa, where she attended school.

On June 8, 1930, she married Palmer N. Johnson in Guttenberg.

Edna worked at the Paramount Theater in Austin. She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, the resident council of St. Marks and was active in many other activities at St. Marks.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, William and Michelle Johnson, Durham, N.C.; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Evelyn Scheffert, Guttenberg, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Robert; six brothers and two sisters.

Visitation: Thursday at St. Marks for one-half hour before the service.

Service: 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003, at St. Marks Lutheran Home with the Revs. Don Deines and Greg Mannel officiating.

Interment: Grandview Cemetery, Austin.

Luzetta J. Carris, 97

Luzetta J. Carris, 97, of Austin, died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003, at Comforcare Good Samaritan Center.

She was born Jan. 31, 1905, in Clarion, Iowa, to James and Margaret (Mitchell) McDonald. She attended Wright County and Clarion schools.

On Feb. 11, 1927, she married Elmer Carris in Clarion, Iowa. Luzetta worked as a dressmaker. Elmer died in 1986 and Luzetta moved to Austin in 1987.

She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Clarion for 60 years, the Methodist church in Clarion for 69 years, and has attended Westminster Presbyterian Church in Austin since 1987. She loved to sew, travel, and enjoyed her church circle.

Survivors include nieces, Viola Anderson, Rose Creek; Darlene (Mitch) Berhow, Oakland; Carla Miller, Onamia; many great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; sisters, Mina Peterson and Nell Jones; brothers, John McDonald and Alex McDonald.

Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003, at the funeral home and Friday at the church for one hour before the service at the church.

Service: 11 a.m. Friday at Westminster Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Andrew M. Lindahl officiating. Casket bearers will be Paul Smith, David Anderson, Dan Thompson, David Berhow, Dale Anderson and Steven Berhow.

Interment: Evergreen Cemetery, Clairon, Iowa.

Marie L. Schlekua, 94

Marie Lola Schlekua, age 94, of Mankato, died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003, at Oak Lawn Health Care Center.

She was born Sept. 13, 1908, to Dominic and Odelia (Stoderal) Miller in Iona. She moved to Mankato in 1933 and married Leon Schlekua on Oct. 10, 1936.

Marie was a homemaker and retired with her husband to Lake Stella. After Leon's death in 1975, she moved back to Mankato. She was a member of St. John The Baptist Catholic Church.

She enjoyed cooking, candy, making cookies, flowers, her strawberry patch, darning and sewing.

Survivors include daughters, Reve Rasmussen, Good Thunder; Karen Swank, Austin; Lucille (Kenneth) Johnson, Austin; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great granddaughters; sister, Rose Kuhl, Wilmot; sister-in-law, Evelyn Miller; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Shirley Gens; four brothers and four sisters.

Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003, with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service and Friday at the church for one hour before the service.

Service: 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church with Father Virgil Duellman officiating.

Interment: Calvary Cemetery.
