Donald W. Peroutka, 70

Donald William Peroutka, 70, of Austin, died Monday, Jan. 20, 2003, at Austin Medical Center.

He was born Dec. 10, 1932, in Austin, to Max and Mary (Bastyr) Peroutka.

He graduated from Austin High School in 1950, then worked briefly for Hormel. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1951 and served at the U.S. Naval Station in Pearl Harbor, on board the USS Nerius, and at Sangley Point in the Philippines before honorable discharge in 1955. He rejoined Hormel Foods Corporation and worked in the Austin and Corporate Offices until 1975. Later pursuits included a partnership in a cabinet shop, retail management, and accounting and inventory control activities for a small business and the Apollo stores.

On Sept. 22, 1956, he married Sharon A. Kolb.

Don was a member of St. Augustine Church, American Legion, Elks Club and Austin Country Club. He enjoyed golf, woodcarving, Canadian fishing trips, remodeling and bowling. He enjoyed his friends, Navy buddies and grandchildren.

Survivors include wife, Sharon, Austin; sons, Gregg (Leigh) Peroutka, Chanhassen; Tom (Brenda) Peroutka, Eden Prairie; three grandchildren; sister, Joann (Charles) Draeger, Austin; mother-in-law, Natalie "Tollie" Kolb, Austin; nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law.

Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003, with a 6 p.m. wake service and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

Service: 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Father Paul Nelson officiating. Casket bearers will be Roger Bastyr, Robert Brandt, Charles Draeger, Theron Draeger, Don Osmonson and Allen Skogebo.

Interment: Calvary Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post #91.

Funeral Home: Mayer Funeral Home, Austin.

Memorials: American Cancer Society or donor preference.

Theodore J. Krob, 86

Theo-dore J. Krob, 86, of Austin, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003, of cancer, at the Austin Medical Center.

He was born Dec. 5, 1916, in Austin, to Anton and Josie (Kos) Krob. He was raised in the Long Prairie area and on a farm near Rose Creek where he attended school.

On Nov. 30, 1939, he married Lorna L. Norman in Austin.

Ted worked at Hormel Foods for over 40 years, retiring in 1978.

He enjoyed gardening, fishing and sports. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and WFLA Lodge 38 of Austin.

Survivors include his wife, Lorna Krob, Austin; sons, Steven (Dorothy) Krob, Austin; Carl (Janet) Krob, Bozeman, Mont.; Dean (Marina) Krob, Belgrade, Mont.; seven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Louise Weber, Austin; brother-in-law, Bud (Eva) Norman, Austin; sisters-in-law, Wilma Madison, Rice Lake, Wis.; Norva Landa, Dallas, Texas; uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two brothers-in-law.

Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, 2003, at the funeral home and Saturday at the church for one hour before the service.

Service: 11 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Pat Toschak officiating.

Interment: Grandview Cemetery.
