Also nearby was a television set taken from the residence while inside the vehicle were other items taken from the residence.

The burglary was reported shortly after midnight Monday.

The Mower County Attorney's office is reviewing possible first degree burglary, possession of stolen property and obstruction of legal process charges against the man.

Men say they were solicited

Two customers at the Hey Rube bar in downtown Austin claimed they were solicited for sex by a dancer employed at the establishment.

The men -- one from Austin and the other from Iowa -- walked across Second Street NE to the Austin-Mower County Law Enforcement Center and told police.

Officers outfitted the men with audio surveillance devices and sent them back to the bar, where they recorded the dancer on tape offering to have sex with both men for $100 each. She invited them to the Downtown Motel, but police intercepted the woman and took her into custody.

The events took place around 7 p.m. Friday, according to the Austin Police Department report.

The 23-year-old woman was charged with prostitution.

Vehicles collide

A two vehicle mishap was reported outside of Austin at the intersection of 115th Street and 790th Avenue.

According to a Mower County Sheriff's Office report, a van was struck by a pickup truck at the intersection.

The van was driven by Leroy E. Johnson and contained his wife, Wendy, and their two children, Jennifer and Paul. None of the Johnson family members were injured.

The pickup truck was driven by Howard McFarland, of Spring Valley, who was taken to Austin Medical Center.

McFarland was charged with failure to yield, according to the Sheriff's Office report.

Ring-off at HyVee

The ring-off continues between city of Austin and Mower County officials.

On Monday, Chief Deputy Terese Amazi raised $8,219 beating Capt. Curt Rude's $6,556.

Amazi, of the Mower County Sheriff's Office, and Rude, of the Austin Police Department, rang bells from 4 to 6 p.m. at the HyVee Food Store for the Salvation Army Austin Corps.

Already, Austin Police Chief Paul M. Philipp has bested

Mower County Sheriff Barry J. Simonson with $171.86 over Simonson's $152.15. Austin Mayor Bonnie Rietz topped Mower County Commissioners by raising $731.34 over their $243.95 in a similar ring-off for the Salvation Army.

The Fire Department raised $296.12 ringing bells from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
