With all the fury now that elections are finally over -- or at least for the time being -- now's a good time to keep in mind about another important day that we recognize each year.

Monday is Veterans Day, giving us a chance to honor those who fought in wars and conflicts and did a great service to this country and its democracy.

It's can be too easy at times just to take for granted all that our nation's veterans have done for us. In the next few days, we're going to block off some pages and put in the thoughts and words of local veterans who fought so valiantly to protect our country and what it stands for.

It's not just a chance to have their voices heard. It's a chance for local residents, both young and old, to read about what they did for all of us.
