Ronald M. Grothe, 72

Ronald M. Grothe, 72, of Austin, died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2002, at the Austin Medical Center.

He was born July 16, 1930, in Milwaukee, Wis. to Leonard and Pearl (Record) Grothe.

He lived most of his life in Austin, graduating from Austin High School in 1948. After graduation, he served with the Army National Guard.

On May 1, 1949, he married Bernice Midje at Oakland Midway Lutheran Church. They lived in Austin, where he worked for Geo. A. Hormel Company for 32 years.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Survivors include wife, Bernice Grothe, Austin; sons, James (Colette) Grothe, River Falls, Wis.; Wayne Grothe, Austin, and special friend, Melodie Heiny, Austin; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; mother, Pearl Grothe, Austin; sister, Lorraine (Joris) Kyllo, Austin; sister-in-law, Lil Grothe, Minneapolis; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Grothe; son, Jon Grothe; and brother, James Grothe.

Service: Memorial service was held Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002, at Crane Community Chapel with Rev. Randy Petersen officiating.

Collette Mary Neus, 80

Collette Mary Neus, 80, of Austin died Friday, Nov. 15, 2002 at Comforcare Good Samaritan Center.

She was born February 23, 1922, in Adams to Jake and Amelia (Blonigan) Wagner.

She married Conrad Neus on Aug. 17, 1940.

They lived north of Adams until 1950 when they moved to a farm northwest of Lyle.

Conrad died in 1970 and in 1971 she moved to Austin.

Survivors include daughters Judy (David) Bopp, Tipp City, Ohio, Sharron (Ronald) Butler, Shoreview, Nan (Bill) Wilson, Superior, Wisconsin, Cyndi (Scott) Bradley, Shoreview; sons Warren Neus, Prior Lake, Charles Neus, Austin; eleven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother Don (Sharon) Wagner, Austin; sister Marlene (Oliver) Whalen, Rose Creek.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sisters Winnie Gabin and Gert Bellrichard.

Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m, Monday, Nov. 18, 2002, at the funeral home where a 7:30 prayer service will be held and also for one hour before the service.

Service: 10 a.m., Tuesday, at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel with Father Joseph Fogal officiating.

Interment: Little Cedar Cemetery, Adams.
