Hormel descendant dies at Nebraska home

Benjamin F. Hormel, whose ancestors included the founder of Geo. A. Hormel & Company, has died at the age of 88.

He was the son of Benjamin Franklin Hormel Sr., (deceased), who was a younger brother of Geo. A. Hormel, founder of the company that bears his name, Hormel Foods Corporation.

The deceased was born Jan. 18, 1914 in Austin .

He died Tuesday at Bickford Cottage, Lincoln, Neb. He made his home at McCook, Neb.

He was a long-time owner of an auto dealership at McCook, Neb. before retiring.

His father, Benjamin F. Hormel Sr. was the youngest son of George and Lillian Hormel.

His father was there at the beginnings of the Fortune 500 corporation in 1891 and served the company as director, treasurer, second vice president and senior vice president, during his lifetime, according to "In Quest of Quality," the official Hormel biography commissioned by George A. Hormel and written by Richard Dougherty.
