Richard D. Barclay, 72
Richard D. Barclay, 72, of St. Ansgar died Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2002, at Mercy Medical Center, Mason City, Iowa.
He was born Sept. 8, 1930 in Maple View, Minnesota to Emanuel and Lila (Larson) Barclay.
His mother died when he was a baby and he was raised by Emanual and Dena (Scamper) Barclay.
As a young man he worked for various farmers around the Austin and Northern Iowa areas.
On Feb. 20, 1964 in Sioux Falls, S.D, he married Norma Osborn.
He was in the US Army from Feb. l6, 1951, to Feb. 25, 1953. After his discharge, he moved to Newton, Iowa, and worked for Maytag.
They moved to St. Ansgar in 1992.
He was a member of the Newton VFW and American Legion, Moose Lodge and Eagles Club.
He enjoyed camping, playing softball, baseball, horseshoe pitching, bowling and watching sports. He was a big fan of the Minnesota Twins and Vikings.
He is survived by his wife Norma Barclay, St. Ansgar; daughter Angela Whilatch, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; son Dale (Saundra) Blarclay, Joyce, Iowa; step son Roy Dean McMullen; 4 Grandchildren; first wife Rosie Boss and daughter Cheryl Alexander, formerly of Austin; sister Audrey (Max) Guritz of Dexter; brother Bob (Alvina) Blarclay, Austin; Ruby Barclay, Austin; nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother, son-in-law Craig Whilatch and brother Milo "Mike" Barclay.
Visitation: One hour before the service at the funeral home.
Service: 1:30 p.m., Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Randy Petersen officiating. Graveside service will be in the Newton Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Newton, Iowa on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002 at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Forrest Whilatch officiating.

Stanley Ervin Bowe, 87
Stanley Ervin Bowe, 87, of Owatonna, died Friday, Sept. 27, 2002 at Cedarview Nursing Home.
He was born July 15, 1915 in Steele County, the son of Byron and Olive (Eastman) Bowe.
He married Myrtle Doraquast Sept. 3, 1938 at St. John Lutheran Church Parsonage in Owatonna.
He served in the US Army during World War II from June 1943 to December 1945.
He worked for Josten’s for 18 years, farmed and sold oil for Archer Oil.
He served on the Havana Township Board, District 11 School Board
and was the first president of the Future Citizens 4-H Club.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge 1395, VFW Post 3723 and the Owatonna American Legion Club.
He enjoyed hunting and going to Montana on hunting trips. Surviviors include wife Myrtle Bowe, Owatonna; sons John (Pam) Bowe, Owatonna, James (Marilyn) Bowe, Anchorage, Alaska, daughters Jeanette (Alan) Ness, JoAnn Hiebert, Owatonna; l0 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brother Kenneth Bowe, Austin; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, a daughter, and a greatgrandchild.
Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, October 1, 2002, at the funeral home and one hour before the service at the church.
Service: 1 p.m., Wednesday, October 2, 2002 at St. John Lutheran Church in Owatonna with the Rev. Dennis Pettyjohn officiating
Interment: Havana Cemetery, Havana Township.
