The students, faculty and administration won’t be moving into the brand new monolithic dome school in Grand Meadow this September on the date that was anticipated. The rescheduled target date to be in the new school is Oct.18, MEA weekend.

"There is an overall delay in getting the building finished. There is not one single problem. Everything is going okay. We have had to push a few things back from what we had scheduled," Superintendent Bruce Klaehn said.

For instance, flooring that was supposed to start this week was delayed but when a building of this magnitude is being constructed Klaehn said,"we expect delays.

Students and faculty will begin the 2002 school year in the old Grand Meadow School.

"People are not surprised by the delay. We were prepared to begin school in the new facility or the old facility. We are realistic that we couldn’t make our target day. We want everything to be just right when we move into the new school," Klaehn said.

The new Grand Meadow school is an $8 million building that is 81,000 square feet of classrooms, which will include a media center, gymnasium, cafeteria and multipurpose stage.
