Austin Jaycee All-Stars win Forest City tournament

The Austin Jaycee All-Stars not only won the annual Forest City, Iowa, Tournament, they did it without surrendering a run in their four games, outscoring their opponents 36-0.

In the first game against Forest City, Austin won 6-0. All-Stars pitchers, MacEagon Voyce and Kody Retterath teamed up to strike out 15 batters.

Austin then went on to beat Mason City 10-0 and Nora Springs 11-0.

In the title game, the Jaycee All-Stars again beat Mason City, who had won its way back into the title game out of the consolation bracket. Voyce and Retterath again teamed up on the mound for the 9-0 title game victory.

"Our pitchers, MacEagon Voyce, Kody Retterath, Brian Voigt and Kyle Swatfager, were outstanding this weekend," said All-Stars coach Gabby Weiss, "and were backed by the best defense the kids played all year. We had a number of key defensive plays."

On Thursday the Jaycee All-Stars will head north to Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada, for that city's annual 20-team tournament.
