Senior Citizen award nominations sought

Nominations are being sought for the 2002 Mower County Fair
Outstanding Senior Citizen award.
Last year, Eileen Evans, LeRoy, and Frank Gerlach, Brownsdale were honored.
In 2000, Alva Wiste, Adams, and Bernard "Chuck" Schammel, Rose Creek, were the honorees.
Each year a male and female are honored at the Mower County fair on Senior Night at the county fair.
According to Denice Mudra, a member of the Mower County Fair special awards committee deadline for entering the competition is July 24.
The nominees must be residents of Mower County at least 70 by August 1.
Only volunteer activities after the age of 65 can be considered.
Judges will look for leadership, diversity and quantity
of accomplishments, variety of services performed and the quality of activities. No compensation must be involved.
Also the nominees' community memberships will be considered.
Mower County Fair winners are eligible for consideration at the 2002 Minnesota State Fair.
