Also performing tonight will be the Rochester chapter of the U.S. Amateur Ballroom Dancers Association.

Admission is $5 per person and tickets are available in advance at Nemitz's and Li'l Professor in Sterling Shopping Center as well as at the door.

The weekend's SPAM Museum grand-opening celebration at the Paramount Theatre is sponsored in part by Jerry's Other Place.

The music includes classics from the Glenn Miller Orchestra, Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey, Benny Goodman and other swing era bandleaders.

Austin's rich tradition of swing music dates back to the glory days of the old Terp Ballroom, where the biggest bands and brightest stars of the big band music era performed.

The Paramount Theatre, built in 1929 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is located at 125 5th Ave. NE.

The Austin Swing Band is made up of 18 members. They will be playing the popular music of the 1930s and 40s. This is the second time in five years that the Swing Band has performed at the Paramount.

"The last time we played here we just played off the top of our heads. That was when the building was still under renovation. The money we will raise for this event will go towards more renovation. We are looking forward to playing at the Paramount," Hart said.
