Mary M. Roberts, 90

Mary M. Roberts, 90, of Spring Valley died Thursday, May 30, 2002 at Spring Valley Care Center.

She was born September 5, 1911 in Bennington Township in Fillmore County.

She graduated from LeRoy High School.

After two years at Winona State Teachers College, she started teaching at the same rural school she had attended as a child.

She later obtained her four-year degree from the same college.

Over a 42 year career in elementary education, she had taught in Taopi, Wykoff, Racine, Grand Meadow, and Albert Lea.

For eighteen years, she taught fifth grade in the same classroom at Woodson Elementary School.

She was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Spring Valley.

She was an avid reader, enjoyed baking, crocheting, latch hooking, and dancing.

Survivors include sisters Patricia Mengis, Mabel and Maurece Williams, Spring Valley; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, June 2, 2002, at the funeral home with a 7 p.m. prayer service and one hour before the service Monday at the church.

Service: 10:30 a.m., Monday, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Spring Valley, with the Rev. Russell Seepaniak officiating.

Interment: The church cemetery.

Funeral Home: Hindt-Hutchins Funeral Home, Spring Valley.

Memorials: To the St. Ignatius Cemetery Association.

Bruce E. "Digger" Hall, 80

Bruce E. "Digger" Hall, 80, formerly of Austin died Friday, May 31, 2002.

He was born February 14, 1922 in Austin.

He was a Navy veteran of WWII and was employed by Mueller-Bies Funeral Home for 21 years.

Survivors include sons Gary (Maggie) and Brian (Sandy); daughter Wendy; grandchildren; caregiver Doris Hall.

He was preceded in death by his sister Merle Vokaty.

Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at the funeral home.

Service: 11 a.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Interment: National Cemetery.
