Literary Club meets

for one more time

ROSE CREEK -- It is a bitter-sweet occasion for the Rose Creek Literary Club.

The club's members will celebrate their 80th anniversary and meet for the last time.

The fateful day is Thursday, June 6, when the club members meet at Holiday Inn of Austin, beginning with dinner at 1 p.m.

Membership has fallen to 12 women, according to long-time member Mary Bendtsen, Rose Creek. The rich tradition of discussion topical issues and current events of the day, as well as a good book, have given way to a generation of career women, who find it difficult to juggle family and career responsibilities with community service.

At the final club meeting June 6, members are hoping both past and present club participants will attend the combination anniversary party and final meeting.
