Three victims taken to hospital

Shortly after 3 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, a two-vehicle accident resulting in three injuries occurred in Rose Creek at the intersection of State Highway 56 and County Road 14.

A Suburban driven by 16-year-old Alyssa O'Connell of Dexter was traveling northbound on State Highway 56

when it collided with a SAAB driven by Bernice Landherr, 80, of Taopi.

Landherr was traveling southbound on State Highway 56. O'Connell attempted to make a left hand turn at the intersection, according to the Minnesota State Patrol, when the accident occurred.

Landherr, who was wearing her seat belt, was transported to St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester from Austin Medical Center.

Also transported from the scene, from the O'Connell vehicle, were Amanda Steiner, 15, of Dexter, who was treated and released from AMC and Gina Lonergen, 15, of Rose Creek, who was transported to St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester from AMC. Neither were wearing their seat belts.

As of press time today, Landherr and Lonergen were listed in good condition.

Five other passengers in the O'Connell vehicle were uninjured.

Also responding to the scene were Mower County Sheriff’s Department, Rose Creek Fire Department, Adams Fire Department, Gold Cross and Adams Ambulance.
