Lady Rebels split with Rushford

Southland pitching did not allow a hit to Rushford-Peterson, but the Lady Rebels' softball team took a split in their season-opening doubleheader at home Monday night.

Amy Walerak was the hard-luck no-hit loser pitching in the first game, while eighth-grader Michelle Landherr was the victor in the nightcap. Southland scored solo runs in the second and sixth innings of the second game, with Amber Howe picking up the team's only RBI.

Southland does not play again until next Thursday.
