A fire at a residence in the 21000 block of 582 Avenue has caused approximately $30,000 to the home.

According to reports from the Mower County Sheriff’s Department, a man at the residence noticed a glow coming from the bedroom where an electric blanket was turned on, Saturday.

The man investigated and found his bedroom on fire. He tried to put out the blaze with a fire extinguisher, but was unsuccessful.

No one was seriously injured, but a 1987 Cutlass Sierra was destroyed in addition to the damage to the home.
