They were supposed to play a doubleheader, but Mother Nature decided to bring in more heavy rains before the second game could get started. Riverland lost 4-0 as Anoka-Ramsey’s pitcher threw a no-hitter.

"He did a nice job keeping us off-balance at the plate," Riverland Coach Lee Brand said. "We couldn’t get any runs in. We had two base runners from two walks and we left them stranded there."

Riverland played well defensively, according to Brand, and pitcher Matt Raso threw a good game. Raso gave up two earned runs. Riverland made one error that cost them a couple of runs.

"We couldn’t get into any rhythm to get runs out," Brand said.

Riverland plays a doubleheader with Hibbing at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
