With Mower County’s increasing population of Hispanic residents, there is a need to meet the needs of this community in our area. Hy-Vee found one way to not only meet these residents’ needs, but also found a way to attract them to their business. It’s a win-win situation.

That’s not to say that Hy-Vee ignored the community’s needs in the past. While the former Hispanic foods section was only 4 feet wide along an aisle, the new section is 32 feet wide – eight times bigger.

As the population of our community continues to shift, other businesses and services also will need to find ways to serve these people.

The change is welcome in Austin.
