A juvenile from Austin was struck in the lower left eyelid by a BB gun pellet during a Superbowl party on Sunday.

A 41-year-old adult was handling the gun and pulled the trigger, lodging a BB one-half to three-quarter inch into the lid.

The juvenile was taken to Rochester to see a specialist and chose not to press charges.

Charitable funds stolen

A total of $740 in cash was stolen from lockboxes belonging to the Austin Area Commission for the Arts. The Austin Police Department reports that a screwdriver or similar prying tool was used to open the boxes.

Two residential fires

Two non-injury residential fires were reported over the weekend in Austin. The first, at 710 8th Ave. SE is being investigated as a possible arson, Austin Fire Department (AFD).

The second, at 809 5th Ave. NE, was extinguished by the AFD after a juvenile female called it in.
