Christmas in the City is a wonderful effort of the Austin Area Chamber of Commerce.

Since Nov. 25, events and activities have taken place all over Austin to make the holidays a happier experience for all.

Music, lights and laughter permeate the community as the countdown to Christmas begins in earnest.

Well … Christmas doesn’t end at the Austin city limits.

It is celebrated everywhere.

In the midst of the holiday hustle and bustle, when a time-out is needed, here’s an idea: take a drive in the countryside and follow the lights.

Farm homes are decorated, the many small towns in Mower County, too.

Everywhere you go, there’s a winter wonderland set aglow by the residents of Mower County.

Maybe a drive down country roads on a cold winter’s night in December is just what is needed to remind everyone of the real reason for the season.
