This summer’s flooding gave us more than our fair share of the pests.

For many, it was impossible to work in the yard, take a walk, play ball or visit with neighbors without being eaten alive.

The skeeters have been terrible this summer.

We applaud the Austin City Council for finally voting to spend $17,600 to spray the entire city.

A few stray pests may slip over the border from Lansing Township and surrounding areas, but we’ll kill off a fair number of the blood suckers.

Spraying began in Austin’s neighborhoods Wednesday evening.

Two additional applications will be made over the next month to help wipe out the tiny insects.

When’s all said and done, hopefully, we’ll be able to enjoy the great outdoors in Austin again. Barring another flood, of course.

If only we could get rid of prostitutes as easily.
