The vacancy occurred with the death of the Judge Michael H. Seibel on June 16.

District Judge Donald E. Rysavy is the only sitting judge on the Mower County bench. Other judges from the Third Judicial District hear cases to relieve Rysavy’s caseload.

Anyone learned in the law who is a resident of the Third Judicial District may request an application by calling John Hultquist at (651) 296-0019, via e-mail at john.hultquist@state.mn.us or by writing George W. Soule, Chair, Commission on Judicial Selection, 130 State Capitol, St. Paul, Minn. 55155.

All candidates for the vacancy must submit an application. Applications and letters of recommendation must be submitted no later than Aug. 9.

Applicants are asked to contact the commission members individually, as the nine at-large members and the four district members will conduct interviews at a later date, which has not yet been determined.
