The Austin Boys’ U17 Classic 2 Soccer team advanced to the State tournament with a 5-3 win over Bloomington this past weekend in Eagan.

The Austin Boys’ U17 Classic 2 Soccer team advanced to the State tournament with a 5-3 win over Bloomington this past weekend in Eagan. The Arsenal then lost to Rochester 1-0 in the championship of the Sectional tournament.

Jim Reetz put in three goals in the win over Bloomington. Drew Oesterle and Josh Hansen also scored a goal apiece.

St. Louis Park is the top seeded South team at the State tournament after winning the regular season crown. Rochester is number two and Austin number three.

The State tournament takes place the next two weekends in Blaine. There are two pools of four teams playing a round robin schedule. The two pool winners then play for the Classic 2 State title.

Austin begins play on Saturday against Rochester at 1 p.m. Sunday Austin plays at 11 a.m. The third round is Friday, August 7 at 7 p.m., with the championship game scheduled for Saturday, August 8 at 1 p.m.
