The long holiday weekend should look more like summer: hot, humid and with some thunderstorms likely. That’s the word for SPAM Jammers from National Weather Service meteorologist Todd Rieck today.
"At the beginning of the weekend you may see scattered showers blow up in the late afternoon and early evening, but later Sunday and Monday there’s a good chance of getting wet," Rieck said.
Rieck said temperatures over the weekend would be in the lower 80s, with lows in the 60s and higher humidity than southern Minnesota has been experiencing.
In the end, it may be the "Old Farmers Almanac" that gets the final word on the Independence Day revelries and the weather.
Under July weather the sages at the almanac write: "Nature trumps the fireworks maker; thunder thumps on every acre. Hazy, hot and humerd, it’s rumored. Cooling burst of precipitation, then it’s back to perspiration."
