On a beautiful day to play golf Southland/Grand Meadow golfer Jeff Thalberg played a beautiful round of golf.

He shot a school record 2-under par 34 at the Cedar River Country Club to lead his team to a 156-229 win over Mabel-Canton. The girls, playing at Mabel-Canton on Meadowbrook Golf Course, also pulled off a convincing win 220-277.

"It was a beautiful day to play and our scores reflected that fact," Southland coach Wayne Robertson said.

Other scores for the boys were Gary Kiefer with a 40, Eric Klaehn 41, Dustin Wiste 41, Joe Osmundson 43, and Reed Hansen 45.

For the girls, Laura Retterath was the medalist shooting a 51.

Charlotte Retterath shot a 55, Ashley Krebsbach a 56, Lindsay Viker 58, Kayla Wolterman 60, and Nicole Blake 62.

Hayfield awesome

The impressive Hayfield girls’ track and field team won the nine-team Panther Relays in New Richland on Tuesday, winning12 of 17 events.
