Lyle/Pacelli split a road doubleheader with Rushford-Peterson on Thursday, winning 5-4 and losing 8-3.

Pitcher Jason Helgeson went the distance on an eight hitter to win the opener. He helped himself with a big day at the plate, including two home runs. His solo shot made it 1-0 in the third inning. He won it in L/P’s final at-bat in the seventh inning with a homer that broke a 4-4 tie.

Two errors in the first inning of the second game sent L/P reeling early in the loss.

Josh Kunze finished 4-for-5 on the day. He’s hitting close to .600.

Danny Frank went 2-for-3 in the opener, while Jared Koopel finished 3-for-6 in the two games.

L/P (2-7, 1-5 in the SEC) hosts Glenville-Emmons in Lyle at 4:15 p.m. tonight.
