The Austin Park & Recreation Department will be offering a host of summer sports opportunities for Austin-area residents. Among them:

Basketball for girls ages 6-12 – 6- and 7-year-olds meet Monday nights, 8-9 Tuesday nights and 10-12 Wednesday nights. Cost is $35. Players receive a T-shirt.

Friday night basketball leagues for boys ages 6-9 are new this year. Cost is $35. Players receive a T-shirt.

Volleyball for girls age 18-and-under and a new 15-and-under league. Older girls will meet Monday nights, younger girls on Thursday nights. Leagues are limited to the first 16 registered teams. There were teams turned away last year so sign up early. Cost is $25 per player. Players receive a T-shirt. Players should register together, sending form in with one another.

Softball leagues for all ages are available. Information is available at the Park and Rec office on the Southern Minny Girls’ Fast-Pitch League. The leagues is for girls age 18 and under. It is a traveling league with a cost per team of $68. Deadline is Wednesday.

Adult slow-pitch teams are also forming. Sign-up deadline is April 12-13. Information on all the adult leagues is available at Park & Rec office or on the web at www.austin-mn.com.
