Wayne Robertson like the chances of his Grand Meadow/Southland boys’ golf team this season.

"We’ve got a veteran group," Robertson said. "Our conference (the Southeast Conference) is always a tough one, but I’d like to think we’ve got a chance to be on top."

Sophomore Jeff Thalberg, who led the team with a 41 nine-hole average, leads a group that returns seniors Reed Hansen and Dustin Wiste and sophomore Caleb Stroup.

On the girls’ side, senior Laura Retterath returns. She and Thalberg were the lone Grand Meadow/Southland golfers to place in the sub-section last season.

She’ll be joined by junior Nicole Blake and Ashley Krebsbach, sophomores Lindsay Viker and Kayla Wolterman and eighth grader Charolette Retterath.

The Caledonia girls are "by far the class" of the conference said Robertson.
