Two Austin boys’ basketball players earned All-Big Nine honors and two others were named to the honorable mention team.

Two Austin boys’ basketball players earned All-Big Nine honors and two others were named to the honorable mention team.
Senior post players Brian Elwer and Tanner Schieck were named to the 15-player squad.
Seniors Nick Rohne and Matt Christopherson received honorable mention.
The Packers finished in a tie for third with Faribault in the Big Nine with a record of 11-7.
Rochester Mayo was the champion with a 17-1 mark. Mankato East finished in second with a 12-6 record.
Three Mayo Spartans made the team – seniors Brett Boese, Brent Picker, and Matt Schlenker. East had two players named to the first team – junior Ben Kaus and senior Bryan Wolle – and Faribault had one – senior Jay Anderson.

All-conference team is out
The Southeast Conference West Division girls’ basketball all-conference team is out.
Conference champ Fillmore Central (7-1) and runner up LeRoy-Ostrander (6-2) each got three players named to the first team. Southland (4-4) had two and Grand Meadow (2-6) and Lyle/Pacelli (1-7) one each.
First team members are senior Nikki Aug, junior Mandi Mensink, and sophomore Katie Marzolf of Fillmore Central; senior Jill Johnson and juniors Lindsay Mensink and Holly Johnson of LeRoy-Ostrander; seniors Betsy Matheis and Erin Orvik of Southland; conference scoring-leader senior Angie Holst of Grand Meadow; and sophomore Laura Nelson of Lyle/Pacelli.
Making the honorable mention team were five seniors – Emily Kiehne of Fillmore Central, Kelly Davis of LeRoy-Ostrander, Heather Irvin of Southland, Lisa Skifter of Grand Meadow, and Tammy May of Lyle/Pacelli.
