Jeff Weaver, director of recycling, grabs a pallet of food with a forklift as Nancy Clingman, left, of the county employee relations committee and Mayor Bonnie Rietz share a laugh as the food is about to be weighed at the recycling center Tuesday afternoon. The city won this year’s friendly competition by raising 1,177 pounds to the county’s 825 for a total of 2,002 pounds, which was picked up by the Salvation Army. The total was nearly double last year’s total of 1,087 pounds. The city is now up, 4 -3, in the annual competition.
