Parking lot brawl

One man was injured in a brawl in a parking lot at Bremerton Apartments in southwest Austin early today.

According to an Austin Police Department report, Lorenzo Heard, 19, Albert Lea, is in the Mower County Jail and faces second-degree felony assault charges.

Heard is alleged to have struck Terry Williams in the head with a shovel. Williams was taken to Austin Medical Center and is being treated for a non-life-threatening head wound.

Williams faces charges of making terroristic threats and possibly criminal damage to property and theft for an incident prior to the parking lot brawl between Williams and a male companion and four men. He is alleged to have forced his way into the apartment of a former girlfriend, threatened the four men in the apartment, caused damages and stole a kitchen knife.

Williams brandished the knife at the same four men in the parking lot brawl, which was broken up by Austin police at 2:30 a.m. today.

Heard and his companions were spotted by officers fleeing the scene and running across a field to Mandolin Apartments, where the individuals were found attempting to hide in an unlocked car.

Items taken from vehicles

Austin police are investigating reports of seven vehicles damaged in the Hormel Foods Corp. Austin plant parking lot.

The vehicles were entered by breaking windows and items such as CD players and CDs, other stereo equipment and tools were taken, according to police.
