The Lyle-Pacelli girls’ tennis team is slowly, but surely gaining experience. Tuesday at Riverland, they were defeated 7-0 by the Stewartville Tigers. The Tigers have eight-of-10 returning players.

Sammy Jones at No. 1 Singles, Buffy Judd at No. 2 and the duo of Erin Evans and Tina Rosenthal at No. 2 doubles had the most success Tuesday. Jones took her opponent to three sets, 6-7, 6-3, 6-2, Judd lost 6-3 and 6-3 while Evans and Rosenthal lost 6-4 and 6-3.

"Sammy and Buffy did a great job," Hebrink said. "It was Buffy’s first match of the season after not playing last week but she played well. Erin and Tina played well together. The whole team showed a lot of improvement."

At No. 3 singles, Laura Wiechmann lost 6-0, 6-1, and at No. 4 singles, Jenny Blake lost 6-0, 6-0. At No. 1 doubles it was the Tigers pair winning 6-2, 6-1 over Tammy May and Laura Christopherson and at No. 3 doubles, Ilsa Burke and Christina Edstrom fell 6-1, 6-1.
