The Riverland volleyball team won this weekend for the first time in its last eight tries. The Blue Devils topped Rochester 15-0, 15-6, after falling to Iowa Lakes 10-15, 5-15, and the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse junior varsity 2-15, 10-15 on Saturday at the Rochester Tournament.
Jamie Rosheim had 14 kills in the tournament to lead Riverland. The sophomore out of Glenville-Emmons also had six blocks and six service aces.
Melissa Bemis and Shana Dagestad each had six kills. Jaime Mauseth had five blocks.
Breanna Seira had nine service aces and 25 set assists.
Riverland will begin its conference schedule this Friday at Rochester.
Packers wins one, lose three
The Austin High volleyball teamhad an "off day" at the Red Wing Invitational, losing three matches and winning one.
The Packers topped Northfield 15-8, 15-4 and fell to eventual tournament champ Champlin Park 13-15, 14-16, Zumbrota-Mazeppa 13-15, 10-15, and South St. Paul 14-16, 10-15.
"We came out kind of flat as a team," first-year coach Andrea Becker said.
Becker said Erin Coleman, Brooke Gentzler and Amanda Seibel made solid contibutions.
